a more affordable nyu?

Everyone is telling me to just take the free degree. Haha.

I received a strange email from NYU yesterday morning. Here is a paraphrase of the email chain between the NYU Admissions and myself:

NYU: Hi, Gabrielle! Congratulations on your impending graduation! Please send us this one document we need from you.

Me: Hi, NYU! Sorry, I'm confused. I graduated last year and am no longer enrolled at NYU for my studies. What's going on here?

NYU: I understand you won't be graduating yet. When you send us this document, you can graduate!

Me: Say what?

NYU: You're getting a masters from us, silly! You're graduating in May 2011. We just need to document from you.

So the issue at hand is that I have not paid for tuition at NYU (from my knowledge) nor have I taken a single class at this graduate school.

What happens then if I actually send them this one document...? Think I'd get a free degree? Haha.

this is too awesome not to reblog.

From Jeannie's blog: "Remember the 3-year-old who loved Justin Bieber so much that she cried? (And then she got to meet him on Jimmy Kimmel, ha!) Well, this one-year-old hates Miley Cyrus so much that she also cries-- awesome!"

After 3-year-old Cody broke my faith in the future of our world, this little one-year-old gives me hope.

Not only that, but she has IMPECCABLE taste in music.

Ya'll know my love for Bon Jovi.

corned beef & bok choy.

...is what my mom ended up making for dinner.

The quarter (to whole) green-blooded, freckled-face, "top-o'-the-mornin'-to-ya" self kept it very low-key this year. I didn't even bust out the green eyeliner (mostly because I'm on Long Island currently and I left it in my apartment in Manhattan).

I did retire the green donuts, Dr. Seuss t-shirt, and Notre Dame lacrosse hat and upgraded to some Marc Jacobs apparel (birthday gift via Jin). Celebrated with some fellow Irishmen (and -women) of the Town of Babylon.

And now for my fighting Irish face.

Lastly, tradition: A viewing of my favorite [deleted] scene from Boondocks Saints. Apologies for the crudeness...but it's great.

pluto fanboys write hate mail (very cute).

It's old news but if you have issues with Pluto de-planetation (completely fabricated word), then join passionate 7-year-olds in their fight to advocate for the formerly declared planet!

Read some hate mail written by fellow Plutophiles.

totoro's cameo in toy story 3!

So evidently, there's going to be a small Miyazaki tribute in the new Toy Story 3! Exciting :) Watch the newest trailer above and see if you can catch the furry creature next to the computer screen.

Yay!! My Neighbor Totoro = movie I watched every weekend when I was a child.

sign of the times.

Thursday night in my SIPA class, my professor was discussing technological development and how it has enabled globalization.

At one point, I looked over at the girl next to me, who was blogging:

Sign of the times.
Professor: "Does anyone here even know what a Telex is??"

...No, but I can Google it.

Haha, I thought it was funny. Even funnier because I had indeed Googled it as soon as he mentioned it (I'm a Google fiend during classes) since he ranted on about it for a few minutes.

Here is the Wiki page for the Telex. Enjoy.

noteworthy (from berkley): poker face.

In the middle of my weekly supervision meeting with the director of my agency, she stopped, told me to hold on, called all interns and workers into her office via intercom, and showed us this:

We finished our meeting after everyone laughed and left.

nyulocal is actually really amusing & somewhat informative.

I recently discovered NYULocal. The writing is enjoyable AND it's relatively interesting. Some amusing articles:

NYU student goes a week without technology.

NYU students dress like hobos, basically.

NYU is way overpriced and way under-justified in being so.
At the end, they mention how unnecessary it is that Bobst has flat screens but I'd like to add in how even more unnecessary it is that JSex has an $800,000 retirement benefit that's not included in his compensation calculation. (For those of you who know me well, I strongly dislike that mother-hugger.)

And lastly, a link from NYULocal led me to a completely-biased/stupid but somewhat-amusing article on NYC Universities and stereotypes. The 12th st. and 3rd Ave. chain-smoking comment about the New School kids amused me.

They feature the real voices of the students, elementary drawings of puking rainbows, and social commentary. Best of all, they rip on Gossip Girl. With every right.
