empire state of mind: improved.

Green Street & Malado, live @ Webster Hall.

If you look closely enough, you just might catch a glimpse of A-Town and Bejohnce busting it out. That's how they do it down south.

Oh, and Mallory (sorry, she has yet to gain a spiffy name).

You can even cut it down to just "Pick Quality."

again, but turquoise. & with an x-men theme.

Last night, two of my roommates expressed their desire and determination to not only dye a strip of their hair but to dye it that night as soon as we got home from being out. Since Ricky's was closed, we settled for picking colors from Duane Reade (no Bettys please).

Jeannie opted for a deep, rich purple, which originally came out cotton candy pink but we did some mixing of colors and redying, and it came out pretty chic. (No picture per her request).

Mallory wanted a rich and vibrant blue. And as much as we redyed, it remained a washed out bleach & greenish blue fade. AND she chose to do it in a very conspicuous spot.

No worries, we went out this morning when it still looked like a faded blue-green-bleach color and got some Manic Panic from Ricky's. All should be well in about 5 minutes.

Since Jeannie's new nickname is apparently Storm, Mal dubbed herself Rogue.

Our other roommate Jen had contemplated doing some red (wisely desisted, as Jeannie said, since this morning was her first day working at Sony). But Phoenix anyone?

As for me...

You can call me Hank. Or Beast.

But really, I'm happy that it came out the right color this time around:

It makes me feel really young. Plus.

it pays to be nice.

Say hi to newest pair of shoes.

While shopping at DSW during its closing hour, I started to help put away and organize some of the mountains of shoes & shoeboxes I saw laying all over the ground. The guy working that section then began to make small talk with me as he sorted through piles and I ran them down. Casually, he asked me if I had seen anything I liked and I said I did but I didn't think it was worth spending so much for it. Not only did he show me that it was actually discounted from it's already "discounted" price (which was still pricey, IMO) but he offered his employee discount to me since I had helped him clean up the clearance aisles a bit.

The originally $90-something shoes became $20 through this process.

And he told me he worked at Zara too and to hit him up if I ever wanted a discount at either stores again. I told him to let me know if he ever needed help closing his section again.

It pays to be nice sometimes. Not that I'm encouraging anyone to be nice solely because you want things given or done for you though!

so let's cause a scene.

i miss my dog.

In the meantime, I resort to YouTube for my dose of cuteness.

i've been ignoring this thing.

Between Columbia grad school orientation (I know, right? Seriously...) and happy hours with single serving friends and goodbyes and happy birthdays and hopping on skateboards in Union Square, I haven't spent too much time in front of my Macbook, let alone Blogger.

Oh, and I may be dying.

When I first moved back into Manhattan, I spent 3 days scrubbing away mold and mildew, scraping burnt edges off the stove top, Swiffering all the dust and dust-friends up (one room alone = 3 dry Swiffers & 1 wet one!), and washing out the rugs, curtains, and futon covers. I'm pretty sure that some of that gunk got into my lungs, hence the immense hacking, the trouble breathing, the stuffed up yet runny nose, and the incredibly hoarse voice.

But I promise to settle down, get better, and return to normal life soon.

In other news, new hoops came in FINALLY! Unfortunately the wrong color and not as quality as my old hoop but I'm getting pink gaffer tape soon, yay.
